About Me.
Full Bio
My journey in media began at the age of 17 as a radio music host and football commentator on local television in Mexico.
Over the years, my independent documentary essays have taken me to produce in Hollywood and New York. In Los Angeles, I collaborated with production companies like ACA Films and worked with directors such as Austin Lynch and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
In 2015, I received a scholarship to study documentary filmmaking at UnionDocs in New York. I later trained at the Made in NY Media Center by IFP, a key creative space for filmmakers and media artists in Brooklyn. That experience expanded my narrative vision and strengthened my calling as a storyteller. During that time, I founded my independent documentary storytelling company: Bonan Media Docs.
Since then, I’ve directed and produced docuseries, commercials, and branded content pieces for global brands such as UNICEF, Disney, EY, Bluebox, TEDx, and Made for Joy.
In 2018, I completed my thesis documentary Cerrado por Mundial, inspired by the writer Eduardo Galeano. It was filmed across Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and New York, and explores football as a mirror of Latin American identity and culture.
My self-taught, "wild" formation has taken me to walk and observe different cities around the world, developing urban documentary essays rooted in daily life—like my most recent project in Madrid, a love story inspired by Spanish writer and filmmaker David Trueba.
Most recently, I served as Film Director at Made for Joy VR, the first virtual reality platform focused on emotional wellbeing.

My most precious influencer
My Dad was my first documentary filmmaker.
Making Docs is a kind of therapy that has helped me deal with his loss.
In my journey as a young documentary filmmaker I have learned that the way to overcome sadness resulting from great loss is to use it as motivation.
